CULTURE
For several years (before we start talking about "BIO"), the Challias family had already realized that limiting the inputs of chemicals (herbicides and fungicides) was beneficial for the soil, the plant (the vine ), as well as the consumer. That's why they cultivate in a reasoned way with different techniques with:
* tillage: to control the proliferation of weeds, to improve the penetration of rainwater to make good reserves for the plant and good root development, and to exploit the subsoil thus revealing the terroir to wine.
* Mowing of the grass: when the climatic conditions become complicated or the relief of the plots is not suitable for tillage
* Vines trellising: to allow a good ventilation of foliage and bunches, limiting the spread of diseases and a good application and effectiveness of fungicides.
Yves was one of the first in the region to implement trellising.
* the supply of manure (recovered locally in different farms), or compost to improve the microbial life of the soil.
